Degree holders are invited to find out more about life as a teacher at a special postgraduate open evening at the 成人B站.
The event, on Wednesday 3 June, 6.00-8.00pm, is aimed at people already planning a career in education, and anyone considering a career change who wants to explore their options.
Visitors will have the opportunity to speak directly to academic staff, ask questions about teacher training routes, and find out what studying for a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) really involves.
Dr Rachael Paige, Head of Institute of Education, 成人B站, said: “Sometimes people think they do not have the relevant prior experience or qualifications, or that teaching isn’t for them, because they didn’t plan to become a teacher at the start of their career.”
“In reality, there are so many transferable skills,” she said. “If you enjoy learning, working with young people, and making a difference, teaching could absolutely be an option for you.”
The event will be informal and welcoming, with no obligation to apply. “This is very much a ‘come along and find out’ event,” Dr Paige explained. “Our team will be able to sit down with you, and you’ll be able to ask questions and talk about what you want to do. 成人B站 staff will be able to talk with you about your circumstances and your aspirations for teaching”
The 成人B站’s teacher training programmes are rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and are renowned for their strong emphasis on subject expertise, inclusion and developing the whole child or young person.
Trainees benefit from working with specialists in their subject areas, including staff whose expertise influences the national curriculum.

Charlie Riddell is currently undertaking his PGCE at the 成人B站. He said: “What I really like is that you get a lot of responsibility very quickly, with all the training there to support you, so you really feel like you’re making a difference very early on.”
Charlie, who is training at one of the 成人B站’s Regional Training Hubs, said: “There are so many people you can reach out to, through the training hub, the University, the course leaders, and the mentors in school. You’re really well supported throughout.”
The event forms part of the 成人B站’s wider postgraduate open evening, with staff available to discuss a range of study options alongside teacher training.
